釋曰：資糧、加行異生緣彼眼等轉識，此有二義：一、三乘通說，理實大乘亦緣第八作唯識觀；二、質、影不同，賴耶為質，轉識為影，隱質談影，云「緣轉識」。

The explanation states: Ordinary beings in the stages of provisioning and preparation take the evolving consciousnesses, such as those of the eyes, as their object. There are two meanings to this: First, this is a general explanation common to the three vehicles; in actual truth, the Great Vehicle also takes the eighth consciousness as an object to perform the contemplation of vijñapti-mātra. Second, the fundamental essence (mūla-dharmin) and reflected image (pratibimba) are different: the ālaya is the fundamental essence, and the evolving consciousnesses are the reflected image; concealing the fundamental essence while discussing the reflected image, it says 'taking the evolving consciousnesses as object.'
