The knowledge of another's mind cognizes only another's mind and does not cognize the sense faculties. Provisionally, relying on the ordinary person's six consciousnesses in a distracted state of mind, [the sense faculties] are not apprehended. Although the sixth [consciousness] cognizes them, it does not apprehend them directly; therefore, it must be excluded. In truth, the non-concentrated six consciousnesses of other noble ones also do not apprehend them. In its causal stage, whether for oneself or another, the seventh consciousness does not cognize the faculties, and in the fruitional stage, the other [schools] do not accept [its existence], so it also need not be singled out for exclusion.
