Answer: Tradition reports two explanations: 1. It refers to the causal characteristic, where the Treatise mentions direct production in order to foreshadow and reveal karmic seeds. 2. It merely refers to seeds of equal outflow. Therefore, it is said here that [they] directly produce their own results, while the cause and result of vipāka are spoken of according to another meaning.
