Answer: What can be eaten in pieces, drunk, and eaten, and provides nourishment and benefit, is called nutriment. Visible form can be eaten in pieces, so there is potential confusion and it is excluded; sound is insubstantial and diffuse, and mind and so forth have no pieces; the faculties are that which is nourished and lack the meaning of being drunk and eaten, so with no potential confusion, they are not singled out.
