The exposition states: And the opponent saves [their thesis] by saying: 'Within that death-mind belonging to the desire realm, there are the defiled mind seeds of that concentrated plane.' Hence there is this refutation: because concentrated and distracted minds do not arise simultaneously, and because perfuming is not established, the seeds of the higher defilement do not exist within the lower mind. It also says: 'Nor can the mind born in the concentrated plane be the entity of those seeds, because having seeds and seedness are incompatible within a single mind.'
