Asabhāva's commentary to the fourth chapter of the Mahāyānasaṃgraha says: The appearance of error is accepted as consciousness transformed resembling form; the substance of error is accepted as consciousness transformed not resembling form. In conformity with the method of concluding verses, the text separates them, but their meanings are interrelated. If there were no causal consciousness transformed resembling form, the resultant consciousness not resembling form could not exist; if the resembling [form] lacks an object, then that which possesses the object also does not exist.
