就立宗中，文有其四：初、立論宗諸法唯識；二、顯由經說，以經為證。今明唯識，但成大乘唯識之義，或顯論所明，為成經義，成立大乘，是佛所說，唯識不虛。三、釋外伏難，簡擇「唯」言。四、明唯識義，舉喻以顯。

Within the establishment of the tenet, the text has four parts: first, establishing the treatise's tenet that all dharmas are vijñapti-mātra; second, showing that it stems from what the sūtras teach, using the sūtras as proof—now in clarifying vijñapti-mātra, it merely establishes the Mahāyāna meaning of vijñapti-mātra, or shows that what the treatise clarifies is to fulfill the meaning of the sūtras, establishing that the Mahāyāna was spoken by the Buddha and that vijñapti-mātra is not false; third, explaining hidden objections from outsiders and distinguishing the word 'only'; fourth, clarifying the meaning of vijñapti-mātra, citing an analogy to reveal it.
