There was a royal preceptor who also suffered decline and distress. The courtesan told him: "If you return your misfortune to the ascetic, you will surely regain good fortune." Following her words, the royal preceptor washed him with foul liquid, and the ascetic also endured it patiently. His disciple, a brahmin, again washed and cleaned him. After that, the royal preceptor indeed regained good fortune. Since the matter proved effective, everyone knew about it. Later, when the king wished to go on a campaign, the royal preceptor offered counsel: "If you give your misfortune to the ascetic, you will surely attain good fortune." The king also followed his words, built a hut in the mountains, and constantly doused the ascetic with foul liquid; the military campaign consequently was victorious. From then on, whenever there was an unsatisfactory matter, they would wash him with foul liquid. The ascetic could no longer endure it; wrath arose in his mind, and stones rained down. The king and his people all died; only those who served the ascetic escaped this suffering. In an instant, the country became a mountain forest. After its origin, this forest is named Mātanga.
