The commentary states: "Why are caitta-dharmas explained second? These mental factors always share the same basis, the same cognitive object, and the same time with the mind-king (citta-rāja). If according to the Hīnayāna, they furthermore have the same activity (ākāra); but now according to the Mahāyāna, caitta-dharmas and the king do not share the same activity. Why is this? Because the activity-aspects (ākāra) of caitta-dharmas and the king are each different. For instance, when taking blue as an object, the mind-king manifests on its own, and the mental factors manifest on their own; therefore they are not the same. These mental factors and their mind-king each take various objects, being associated simultaneously. When the mind arises, they arise; when the mind is absent, they are absent. Just as the attendants of a king do not depart from the king, the associated mental factors are also like this."
