二、頌中，初一約喻總顯，上半喻、下半法；後一約染簡定，上半明空如來藏、下半明不空如來藏。又《佛性論》頌云「由客塵故空，與法界相離。無上法不空，與法界相隨。」

Second, within the verses, the first one adduces an analogy to reveal [the meaning] comprehensively, where the first half is the analogy and the second half is the doctrine. The subsequent verse makes a definitive distinction in terms of defilement, where the first half clarifies the empty tathāgatagarbha and the second half clarifies the non-empty tathāgatagarbha. Furthermore, a verse in the Buddhadhātuśāstra says: "Due to adventitious defilements it is empty, / Being separated from the dharmadhātu. / The unexcelled dharmas are not empty, / Accompanying the dharmadhātu."
