Question: "Among these three characteristics, why does it not say 'pervadingly being the class of the thesis' (zongpin xing), but instead says 'property' (faxing)? Why do the two characteristics of similarity and dissimilarity not say 'the property of being definitively present in the similar' and 'the property of being pervadingly nonexistent in the dissimilar', but rather both say 'class' (pin)?" Answer: "The thesis is a single probandum (sādhya), which is referred to collectively as the 'thesis'; because it is narrow, it is not called a 'class'. The examples are broad probantia (sādhana), so they both use the word 'class'. Because the reason establishes the thesis, not the two classes, the first characteristic is called a 'property' (dharma), while the latter two are not so called."
