The commentary says: This is the fourth text. Taking up the previous negative example, it then points out the rule, saying: 'Whatever is permanent' excludes the thesis to be established; 'is seen to be unproduced' excludes the proving reason; 'like space' points to the locus of the negative example. This points to the exclusion of confusion regarding the preceding thesis and reason, and is called the statement of exclusion (vyatireka). It excludes the thesis and departs from the reason, or it applies to exclusion generally; or 'far' (遠) means that their substances are distant, and 'depart' (離) means that their meanings diverge: because they are distant in substance from what is established and what proves, and their principles are mutually contrary, it is called exclusion.
