1.30

問曰：若非今生，何故名果？隨緣故名為果也。若據體言，非因非果，湛然一味。而就妄論真，在因名因，在果名果，故名因果。

Question: If it is not produced now, why is it called a fruit?

Answer: It is called a fruit in accordance with conditions. If spoken of in terms of its essence, it is neither cause nor fruit, serenely of a single flavor. But discussing the true with respect to the false: in the cause it is called cause, and in the fruit it is called fruit; therefore it is called cause and effect.
