1.76

問曰：若以緣照法身見聞覺知，與前六識有何差別？釋曰：前六是其事識，分別事相、心外取法，緣照法身所見聞等，知外無法，一切悉是自心所起，如夢所見，於自心相分別照知有異也。

Question: If one sees, hears, perceives, and knows by conditioned illumination of the dharmakāya, what difference is there with the previous six consciousnesses? Explanation: The previous six are the consciousness of phenomena, which discriminates phenomenal marks and grasps dharmas outside the mind; as for what is seen and heard through conditioned illumination of the dharmakāya, one knows that there are no external dharmas, that everything is produced by one's own mind, like what is seen in a dream, discriminatively illuminating and knowing with respect to the marks of one's own mind, and thus there is a difference.
