○釋意識中，初標、後釋。釋中有五：初、約人辨麁；二、「計我」下，出其惑體；三、「隨事」下，明執所依緣；四、「名為」下，制立其名；五、「此識」下，明識起所依。

Regarding the explanation of the empirical consciousness (manovijñāna), first there is the identification and then the explanation. In the explanation there are five parts: first, distinguishing its coarseness with respect to persons; second, from "grasping at a self" downward, revealing the essence of its delusion; third, from "following states of affairs" downward, clarifying the conditions upon which attachment relies; fourth, from "is called" downward, establishing its name; fifth, from "this consciousness" downward, clarifying the basis on which the consciousness arises.
