11.14

疏　即分別事識下，二：初、引經料揀，二：初、引經指配。事即是境，分別境事之識，故名分別事識。《楞伽》等者，具云：藏識海常住（本識），境界風所動（現識），種種諸識浪，騰躍而轉生（事識）。

The commentary states: From 'namely, the consciousness that differentiates phenomena' below: second, citing sūtras to analyze and differentiate, in which there are two: first, citing a sūtra and assigning correspondences. 'Phenomenon' is the sense-object; the consciousness that differentiates the phenomena of sense-objects is therefore called the consciousness that differentiates phenomena. Regarding 'The Laṅkāvatāra' etc., it fully says: 'The ocean of storehouse consciousness is constantly abiding (the basic consciousness), stirred by the wind of sense-objects (the manifesting consciousness); various waves of consciousness leap and arise in transformation (the consciousness of phenomena).'
