11.22

經中下，二、釋義。現識等者，正配釋，可知。所以下，辨事識義也。既云攀緣外境，非六而誰？由是論依經說，故不復論第七識也。故知下，結會彼此。

From 'In the sūtra' below: second, explaining the meaning. 'Manifesting consciousness' etc.: directly assigning and explaining; it is understandable. From 'Therefore' below: discerning the meaning of the consciousness of phenomena. Since it says 'climbing and taking external objects as conditions', what could it be if not the sixth? Therefore the treatise relies on the sūtra's explanation, and does not discuss the seventh consciousness again. From 'Therefore one knows' below: concluding and harmonizing the two.
