14.17

為諸下，約能化顯平等。菩薩則始從信位，終至十地。業識者，必兼現、轉，但現一味佛身，更無三乘之異，故云唯現。以此菩薩深解境界唯心，不外執定相，故現平等佛身，與其為緣，此即平等在佛也，故下文云：以同體智力故，隨應見聞而現作業。亦可下，約所化顯平等。同發大心，同信大法，同解大義，同修大行，同無退轉，故皆平等。此則平等在機也，故文云：依於三昧，乃得平等見諸佛身。持業、依士亦同前說。謂初地下出緣體。謂登地已去菩薩，以無分別智證平等理，知一切眾生真如平等無異，故現平等佛身應眾生也。

On the text from "For the sake of all" onward: this reveals equality in terms of that which transforms. As for bodhisattvas, they begin from the stage of faith and culminate in the ten grounds. Karmic consciousness necessarily encompasses the manifesting and evolving [consciousnesses]; they manifest only the Buddha body of one taste, with no further differences of the three vehicles; hence it says "only manifest." Because these bodhisattvas deeply understand that the objective realm is Mind-Only and do not externally cling to fixed marks, they manifest an equal Buddha body to serve as a condition for them. Here, equality lies in the Buddha; hence the text below says: "Because of the power of identical-essence wisdom, they manifest deeds according to what should be seen and heard." On the text from "It may also be" onward: this reveals equality in terms of those who are transformed. Together giving rise to the great mind, together having faith in the Great Dharma, together understanding the great meaning, together cultivating the great practice, and together having no regression, they are therefore all equal. Here, equality lies in the capacity; hence the text says: "Relying on samādhi, one only then attains seeing the bodies of all Buddhas in equality." The karmadhāraya and tatpuruṣa compounds are also as explained before. On the text from "Meaning the first ground" onward: he identifies the essence of the condition. This means that bodhisattvas from ascending the grounds onward, through non-conceptual wisdom realizing the principle of equality, know that the tathatā of all sentient beings is equal and without difference; hence they manifest an equal Buddha body in response to sentient beings.
