As for "and so forth" (等), the characteristics of dharmas are extremely numerous. The present commentary merely lists an ascending enumeration from one to five, having no time to mention more; hence it says "and so forth." If stated fully, they are the two enlightenments, the four stages, the four marks, the four mirrors, the three subtle marks, the six coarse marks, and so forth, which cannot be cited extensively. However, although what the commentary lists is brief, no dharma is ungathered, because the single gate of arising and ceasing fully clarifies all worldly and supramundane dharmas. All these are the dharmas shown. Although all are generally called "shown," the senses of showing differ: namely, in regard to the dharmas above, they are shown to bring about faith, understanding, practice, severing, realization, and so forth. Matching this to the text, it can be seen; for this reason, the commentary generally says "shown."
