為除此執，明如來藏從本具有過恒沙數清淨功德，不異真如。（若夫）過恒沙數煩惱染法唯是妄有，本無自性，從無始來未曾暫與如來藏相應。若如來藏染法相應，而令證會息妄染者，無有是處。

To eliminate this attachment, [the treatise] clarifies that the tathāgatagarbha from the beginning possesses pure merits exceeding the sands of the Ganges, which are not different from tathatā. (As for) the defiled dharmas of affliction exceeding the sands of the Ganges, they are solely falsely existent and originally lack self-nature; from beginningless time they have never for an instant been associated with the tathāgatagarbha. If the tathāgatagarbha were associated with defiled dharmas, such that one could cause it to realize and pacify false defilements, there is no such possibility.
