"Equal wisdom" is the wisdom that thoroughly penetrates that all sentient beings and Buddhas are solely the one tathatā. Possessing this equal wisdom, they necessarily possess the equal aspiration, namely the unconditioned four great vows. Arousing the armor [of vigor] at the initial thought, they consummate it with great compassion to face hardships; thus they perfume sentient beings spontaneously and without interruption. "Pure samādhi" is the tathatā-samādhi. As for "according to the hindrances they sever…," it is like the first bhūmi severing the hindrance of common-worldling nature and being able to see the Buddhas and bodhisattvas in a hundred worlds; the second bhūmi severing the hindrance of wrongful conduct and being able to see the Buddhas and bodhisattvas in a thousand worlds; and increasing through each successive bhūmi, fully as explained in the 'Daśabhūmika Chapter' of the Avataṃsakasūtra. In the second part, explaining the distinctions in the meaning of true perfuming, the first part (identifying) and the second part (explaining) are finished.
