止觀捨義八門分別（釋名一　定體二　辨相三　制立四　修起次第五　約境分別六　就位分別七　就人分別八）

The meanings of śamatha, vipaśyanā, and upekṣā are distinguished according to eight headings: (1) Explaining the names; (2) Determining the essence; (3) Discerning the characteristics; (4) Establishing [them]; (5) The sequence of cultivation and arising; (6) Distinguishing them in terms of their objects; (7) Distinguishing them in terms of stages; (8) Distinguishing them in terms of persons.
