Next, the fourth section subsumes them mutually against the four unimpeded knowledges. Differentiating them according to their characteristics: first, relying on the Dharma is the unimpeded knowledge of dharma; second, relying on the meaning is the unimpeded knowledge of meaning; third, relying on the nītārtha sūtras is the unimpeded knowledge of phrasing; fourth, relying on wisdom, skillfully penetrating the minds of beings and freely giving rise to exposition, is the unimpeded knowledge of eloquence. Speaking in terms of reality: first, relying on the Dharma is the path of skillful means for the unimpeded knowledge of dharma. Second, relying on the meaning is the path of skillful means for the unimpeded knowledge of meaning. Third, relying on the nītārtha sūtras is the path of skillful means for the unimpeded knowledge of phrasing and the unimpeded knowledge of eloquence. Fourth, relying on wisdom is the actual essence of the four unimpeded knowledges. Therefore, in the *Bodhisattvabhūmi*, the fourth—relying on wisdom—is called the wisdom of cultivation. Within the wisdom of cultivation, the four unimpeded knowledges are opened: the wisdom of cultivation being unerring regarding the chapters and phrases of dharmas is called the unimpeded knowledge of dharma; the wisdom of cultivation being unerring regarding the characteristics of all dharmas is called the unimpeded knowledge of meaning; the wisdom of cultivation being unerring regarding the names of dharmas is called the unimpeded knowledge of phrasing; the wisdom of cultivation being unerring in according with the various worldly designations is called the unimpeded knowledge of eloquence (this completes the fourth section).
