The four dhāraṇīs are distinguished in seven sections: (1. explaining names; 2. cultivated attainment; 3. distinguishing them in terms of the four meanings of hearing, reflection, cultivation, and realization; 4. distinguishing their similarities and differences in relation to samādhi; 5. distinguishing them according to stages; 6. presence and absence in Mahāyāna and Hīnayāna; 7. clarifying their causes).
