次就處論。處中有四：一依禪處。《毘曇》前四依於初禪二禪修起，後四依於第四禪起。彼《成實論．八勝品》云「依欲界電光及色界定皆得修起。」二境界處、三修起處、四成就處，此等具辨，與八解中初三解脫其義相似。八勝如是。

Next, discussing in terms of place. Under place, there are four aspects: 1. The dhyāna upon which it relies: in the Abhidharma, the first four are practiced relying upon the first and second dhyānas, while the latter four are practiced relying upon the fourth dhyāna. The 'Chapter on the Eight Bases of Mastery' in the Tattvasiddhi states: 'They can all be practiced relying upon the desire-realm lightning-flash [samādhi] and the form-realm absorptions.' 2. The sphere of cognitive objects, 3. The place of initial practice, and 4. The place of possession—the full analysis of these is similar in meaning to the first three liberations among the eight liberations. Such is the discussion of the eight bases of mastery.
