In the fifth section, similarities and differences are distinguished. The meaning of similarity and difference is as taught in the *Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa*. As for similarity: the meaning of the six causes as taught therein is the same as in the *Abhidharma*, without any difference. As for difference: in the Hīnayāna Dharma they grasp [them] definitely according to their characteristics, not knowing this dependent arising like an illusion or magical creation. Bodhisattvas thoroughly realize that [dharmas] are like illusions, like magical creations, like the moon in the water, like an image in a clear mirror, and so forth, and that ultimately not a single dharma maintains its own distinct self-nature. Although they lack fixed nature, causes and conditions are not non-existent. This is their aspect of similarity and difference. The meaning of the six causes is briefly distinguished in this way.
