Question: You object to others in this way. You explain that both of the two truths investigate and verify as real; how are they mutually dependent? Explanation: Conventional truth is a truth from the ordinary [perspective] and not a truth from the noble [perspective]; emptiness is a truth from the noble [perspective] and not a truth from the ordinary [perspective]. As the Mūlamadhyamakakārikā explains: all dharmas are in their nature empty, yet the worldly, due to inversion, claim existence as truth; the noble ones truly know that all dharmas are empty as truth. Thus, existence is truth from the ordinary [perspective], and emptiness is not truth from the ordinary [perspective]. How so? When the ordinary hear of emptiness, they do not believe it, claiming it is false and unreal; whereas dharmas such as vases and clothes exist in principle. Why? Because now they presently see that dharmas such as vases and clothes exist; therefore, they claim that all dharmas are in principle truly existent.
