Question: In what way is it the correct Way? Explanation: The Buddhas cannot practice it, the Buddhas cannot reach it, and the Buddhas cannot speak it. How could it now be spoken? Therefore the sūtra says: 'The mark of the quiescence of all dharmas / Cannot be expounded in words.' And it also says: 'This profound, wondrous Dharma— / Only I know its mark, / As do the Buddhas of the ten directions.' Neither the great śrāvakas nor the non-retrogressing bodhisattvas can comprehend it. Yet this is what is truly fine. As for the two truths of sentiment and cognition, the previous three stages are all the two truths of sentimental conception; only departing from the previous three stages is the truth of cognition. This is why the Lotus Sūtra explains that the Tathāgata calmly arose from samādhi and praised the profound two cognitions.
