"The Buddha understood completely in his mind and awoke from samādhi. Brahmā said to the Buddha: ‘Only after a long, long time has a Buddha been seen again. The gods leap with joy, wishing to hear the Buddha's Dharma. Pray expound the scriptures for the world, and do not enter parinirvāṇa. Sentient beings are foolish and dark, lacking the eye of wisdom; only pray bestow your compassionate guidance to let them attain liberation. Among gods and humans, many are worthy and good, fond of the Way and quick to understand; there are also those who are energetic and able to receive the precepts and Dharma. For the sake of those who dread hell and the three evil destinies, pray open the Dharma treasury and reveal amṛta to them; those who receive it will surely be many. When there was no Buddha in the world, I saw other practitioners of the Way who, fully possessed of the three poisons, fabricated scriptures according to their own minds. People still study their insincere teachings, how much more so the Buddha's purity, free from lust, anger, and delusion? Pray may the Buddha preach the Dharma and allow sentient beings to hear the path of utmost truth.’
