"The next day at mealtime, the Buddha took his bowl, went himself to Kāśyapa's house, received food, and returned. Having eaten in a secluded place, he wished to wash and rinse. Śakra, knowing the Buddha's intention, immediately descended and pointed with his finger at the ground; water welled forth to form a pond so that the Buddha might use it. In the late afternoon, as Kāśyapa was wandering about his settlement, he saw that there was spring water. Puzzled, he asked the Buddha: 'How has this come to be here?' The Buddha said: 'This morning I received your food, and having eaten it here, I wished to wash and rinse. Śakra pointed at the ground, causing water to emerge; you should name this the Finger-Pointed Pond.' Kāśyapa thought again: 'Although this great śramaṇa is spiritual, he is still not equal to my Way, which is real!'
