The treatise master shows the correct principle of double negation, and then refutes him. The original intention of the sūtras and treatises in establishing 'neither existent nor non-existent' is precisely that dharmas rely on conditions to exist and are not genuinely real existences, hence they say 'not existent'; and because dharmas exist through conditioned arising and are not entirely non-existent, they say 'not non-existent'. The meaning in Guifeng's Abridged Commentary is like this, and it appears often in the treatise below; please have no doubt.
