但才識暗短，雖屢（頻）蒙誨喻，猶懷疑漠漠，為竭（盡）愚不已（止），亦如似有解。然未經高勝先唱，不敢自決。不幸什公去世，諮參無所，以為永慨。

Yet my talent and understanding being dim and deficient, although I repeatedly (frequently) received instructions and analogies, I still harbored vague and murky doubts; exhausting (expending) my foolishness without cessation, it seemed as though I had some understanding. Yet not having been preceded by the declaration of exalted and superior ones, I did not dare decide on my own. Unfortunately, Master Kumārajīva passed away, leaving no one to consult, which I take as an everlasting lament.
