The Analects says: "Virtue is not solitary; it must have neighbors." Because Qin established virtue, it moved Kumārajīva to come. Like voices answering each other, their wondrous intents in complete accord, their minds and spirits matched. From "perceiving upon direct encounter" downward, Zhuangzi briefly says: "Wenbo Xuezi went to Qi; Zhongni saw him, and both spoke not a single word. Zilu questioned him, and [Zhongni] said: 'With a man like that, upon direct encounter, the Dao is present.'" It means that with eyes meeting, they have already reached the intention of the Dao. "Square inch" means the heart-mind. The two men being of one mind, they propagated the Dharma transformation and awakened the customs of the degenerate age. "Wind" means teaching. "Inspire" means open up.
