若涅槃一也，則不應有三。如其有三，則非究竟。究竟之道而有升降之殊，眾經異說，何以取中耶？
If nirvāṇa is one, then there should not be three. If there are three, then it is not ultimate. That the ultimate Way should have distinctions of ascent and descent, with various sūtras offering differing explanations—how can we ascertain the mean?
