《法華經》云：「第一大道無有兩正，吾以方便為怠慢者，於一乘道分別說三。」三車出火宅，即其事也。
The Lotus Sūtra says: "The foremost Great Way has no dual correctness; by means of expedient methods for those who are indolent, regarding the One Vehicle Way I distinguish and speak of three." The three carts escaping the burning house are precisely this matter.
