例引老書，論主於中間而釋之，以喻漸斷之理，如見前見後之節級、性宗相宗之位次，寄位斷惑，皆此理也。

Here, as a rule, the Daoist text is cited, and the treatise master explains it in the middle to illustrate the principle of gradual severance—just like the gradations before and after the path of seeing, or the sequence of stages in the Nature School and the Characteristics School; using stages to sever delusion is all this principle.
