3.404

順經而違理也。以能得者，五陰已盡於有內；所得者，涅槃獨立於有外。若云得者，有二違理：一盡陰誰得？二內外懸絕。

This complies with the scriptures yet contravenes principle. For as to that which can attain, the five aggregates are already exhausted within existence; as to that which is attained, nirvāṇa stands alone outside existence. If one says there is attainment, there are two contraventions of principle: first, if the aggregates are exhausted, who attains? Second, inside and outside are completely severed from each other.
