"Equally" means with impartiality. "The Way" means the bodhi of one's own vehicle. The reason this is distinguished in terms of persons is out of fear that people might suspect that outside of dharmatā there are separate, distinct realizations for the three vehicles, unaware that the capacities and dispositions of the three vehicles differ according to their past perfumings, but the prakṛti-śūnyatā they contemplate is without difference. Thus Śāriputra said: "We all enter into the dharmatā together." The Buddha praised Kāśyapa for sharing the same liberation, just as when three beasts cross a river, the river has no different water.
