Being neither knowing nor seeing is called "empty"; being neither existent nor non-existent is called "profound". Again, not being subsumed by the four propositions is called "empty"; spiritual reflection forgetting illumination is called "profound". This cites the sūtra. "Ultimate" means reaching the utmost. Persons of the three vehicles all honor prajñā as their doctrine and each cultivate and learn it, but their capacities are small or large, fulfilling the bodhi of their own vehicle. Hence the "Wenchil pin" [chapter] of the Pañcaviṃśatisāhasrikā says: "Good sons! If you wish to attain the fruit of an arhat, you should train and practice in the prajñāpāramitā", and so on.
