第一義發心有三種勝：一教授勝，親近正遍知故。二隨順勝，善集福智故。三得果勝，生無分別智，長此發心，名歡喜地。此勝以何為因？有四：一法平等，由通達法無我故。二眾生平等，由至得自他平等故。三所作平等，由令他盡苦如自盡苦故。四佛體平等，由法界與我無別決定能通達故。此第一義發心。

The arousal of the thought in the ultimate sense has three kinds of surpassing excellence: first, surpassing excellence of instruction, because of drawing near to the Perfectly Enlightened One; second, surpassing excellence of conformity, because of skillfully gathering merit and wisdom; third, surpassing excellence of obtaining the fruit, because non-conceptual wisdom is generated, expanding this arousal of the thought, which is called the Joyful Ground (Pramuditā-bhūmi). What serves as the cause for this surpassing excellence? There are four: first, equality of dharmas, through penetrating the selflessness of dharmas; second, equality of sentient beings, through attaining the equality of self and others; third, equality of deeds, through making others end suffering just as oneself ends suffering; fourth, equality of the Buddha's essence, through definitively being able to penetrate that the dharmadhātu and oneself are non-different. This is the arousal of the thought in the ultimate sense.
