2.44

次思惟十不善果，云是菩薩復作是思惟：此十不善業道，上者地獄因緣、中者畜生因緣、下者餓鬼因緣，於中殺生之罪，能令眾生墮於地獄、畜生、餓鬼；若生人中，得二種果報：一者短命、二者多病。劫盜之罪，亦令眾生墮於地獄、畜生、餓鬼；若生人中，得二種果報：一者貧窮、二者共財不得自在（餘八三惡道文同）。邪婬之罪，若生人中，得二種果報：一者婦不貞良、二者二妻相諍不隨己心。妄語之罪，若生人中，得二種果報：一者多被誹謗、二者恒為多人所誑。兩舌之罪，若生人中，得二種果報：一者得破壞眷屬、二者得弊惡眷屬。惡口之罪，若生人中，得二種果報：一者常聞惡聲、二者所有言說恒有諍訟。綺語之罪：若生人中，得二種果報：一者所說正語人不信受、二者所有言說不能辨了。貪欲之罪：若生人中，得二種果報：一者貪財無有厭足、二者多求恒不從意。嗔恚之罪，若生人中，得二種果報：一者常為他人求其長短、二者常為他人所惱害。邪見之罪，若生人中，得二種果報：一者常生邪見家、二者心恒諂曲。

Next is contemplating the fruits of the ten unwholesome actions. It says that this bodhisattva further contemplates thus: "Among these ten unwholesome courses of action, the superior are the causes and conditions for the hells, the middling are the causes and conditions for animals, and the inferior are the causes and conditions for hungry ghosts. Therein, the sin of killing living beings can cause sentient beings to fall into the hells, animals, and hungry ghosts; if born among humans, they obtain two kinds of retribution: first, a short life, and second, frequent illness. The sin of stealing also causes sentient beings to fall into the hells, animals, and hungry ghosts; if born among humans, they obtain two kinds of retribution: first, poverty, and second, having wealth in common and not obtaining independence [in using it] (the text for the remaining eight is the same regarding the three miserable destinies). For the sin of sexual misconduct, if born among humans, one obtains two kinds of retribution: first, a wife who is unfaithful and not virtuous, and second, two wives disputing with each other and not complying with one's wishes. For the sin of lying, if born among humans, one obtains two kinds of retribution: first, being frequently slandered, and second, constantly being deceived by many people. For the sin of divisive speech, if born among humans, one obtains two kinds of retribution: first, obtaining a divided family and retinue, and second, obtaining an evil family and retinue. For the sin of harsh speech, if born among humans, one obtains two kinds of retribution: first, constantly hearing harsh voices, and second, all of one's words constantly leading to disputes. For the sin of idle chatter, if born among humans, one obtains two kinds of retribution: first, when speaking correct words people do not believe or accept them, and second, all of one's words cannot be made clear. For the sin of covetousness, if born among humans, one obtains two kinds of retribution: first, coveting wealth without satiety, and second, seeking much and constantly failing to have one's wishes fulfilled. For the sin of malice, if born among humans, one obtains two kinds of retribution: first, having others constantly seeking one's faults, and second, constantly being harmed and afflicted by others. For the sin of wrong views, if born among humans, one obtains two kinds of retribution: first, constantly being born into a family with wrong views, and second, having a mind that is constantly crooked and deceitful."
