《十住毘婆沙．入寺品》云：菩薩若入寺，應行諸威儀，恭敬而禮拜，供養諸比丘。在家菩薩若入佛寺，初欲入時，於寺門外五體投地，應作是念：此是善人住處，是空行者住處，無想行者住處，無願行者住處，行慈悲喜捨者住處，正行正念者住處。

The *Daśabhūmika-vibhāṣā*, 'Chapter on Entering a Monastery', states: 'If a bodhisattva enters a monastery, he should conduct himself with proper decorum, bowing in reverence and making offerings to the bhikṣus.' When a lay bodhisattva enters a Buddhist monastery, as he is about to enter, he touches his five limbs to the ground outside the monastery gate, and should reflect: 'This is the dwelling place of good people; this is the dwelling place of practitioners of emptiness; the dwelling place of practitioners of signlessness; the dwelling place of practitioners of wishlessness; the dwelling place of practitioners of loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity; the dwelling place of practitioners of correct conduct and correct mindfulness.'
