Text of Repentance of the Six Sense Faculties: According to the method of repenting the six sense faculties and receiving the precepts by oneself in the Sūtra on the Contemplation of the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra: For measureless lifetimes, through the conditions of the eye faculty, you have greedily clung to forms. Because of clinging to forms, you have greedily loved the sense objects. Because of loving the sense objects, you have received a female body. Life after life in your places of birth, you have been deludedly attached to forms; forms have ruined your eyes and made you a slave to affection and love, thus causing you to pass through the three realms. Were you able to see clearly and truly, or not? The unwholesomeness of the eye faculty has harmed you greatly; obey my words and take refuge in the buddhas. Śākyamuni has spoken of all the sins and faults of your eye faculty. May the pure water of the Dharma of wisdom and brilliance of all the buddhas and bodhisattvas wash them away, causing me to become pure. Having spoken these words, make prostrations everywhere to the buddhas of the ten directions, turning toward Śākyamuni Buddha and the Mahāyāna sūtras. Further speak these words: "I now repent the heavy sins of the eye faculty, obstructed, defiled, and blind without sight. May the Buddha's great compassion pity and protect me; may the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra ride the great ship of the Dharma to ferry all universally across; and may the measureless companions of bodhisattvas of the ten directions, out of their mercy and pity, hear me repent the unwholesome, evil karmic obstacles of my eye faculty." Speak this three times, casting the five limbs to the ground.
