The Buddha told Yuye: 'The five good wives will always have an illustrious reputation; their words and deeds conform to the Dharma, and all people will love and respect them. The nine generations of their clan will share in their glory, and devas, dragons, ghosts, and spirits will all come to protect them, keeping them from untimely disaster. After the end of their ten thousand parts of life, they will be born in the heavens in palaces of the seven treasures, enjoying what is spontaneous. When their lifespan in the heavens is exhausted, they will be reborn below in the human world as the descendants of wealthy, noble kings and lords, upright, sagely, wise, and revered by all people. The other two kinds of wives will always acquire a foul reputation; their present physical bodies will know no peace, and they will frequently be afflicted by evil ghosts and manifold poisons; they will have no peace whether lying down or rising, will be terrified by evil dreams, will fail to obtain what they desire, and will frequently encounter calamities and disasters. After the end of their ten thousand parts of life, when their hun and po spirits assume bodily form, they will inevitably enter the hells, the hungry ghosts, and the animals, transmigrating through the three miserable destinies for countless kalpas without end.'
