The affectionate speech of a good person is, in brief, of five types: being able to speak to the beings one transforms the dharmas of the Tathāgata and bodhisattvas that possess causal conditions, possess departure, possess reliance, possess courageous resolution, and possess supernormal transformations. If the expounded Dharma establishes śikṣāpadas upon finding a place and having a cause, it is called possessing causal conditions. If the expounded Dharma establishes restoration to purity for one who violates what has been undertaken and trained in, it is called possessing departure. If the expounded Dharma is subsumed under the four reliances and establishes unperverted correct practice of the vinaya, it is called possessing reliance. If the expounded Dharma is able to correctly reveal the irreversible practice that leads out of all suffering, it is called possessing courageous resolution. If the expounded Dharma performs the three supernormal transformations so that all that is said is ultimately not in vain, it is called possessing supernormal transformations.
