4.17.4

故知經說有一闡提名為無性，而復說言當得成佛，據有種子，密意說無。 諸乘差別增減不同，廣如餘辨。 略釋大綱，餘難思准。

Therefore, one knows that when the sūtras say there are icchantikas called "those without gotra", and yet also say they will attain buddhahood, this refers to those who possess bījas, with "non-existence" spoken with intentional meaning (saṃdhi). The differences, additions, and subtractions among the vehicles differ, as is explained at length elsewhere. I have briefly explained the general outline; the rest should be reasoned and evaluated accordingly.
