7. Mutual subsumption: Fascicle 3 of the Mahāprajñāpāramitā-sūtra states: "Cultivating giving through non-apprehension, one thoroughly realizes that all givers, recipients, and given items are unapprehensible. Such giving is able to fulfill giving and the remaining five perfections. Cultivating pure precepts through non-apprehension, one thoroughly realizes that all marks of transgression and non-transgression are unapprehensible. Such pure precepts are able to fulfill pure precepts and the remaining five perfections. Cultivating forbearance through non-apprehension, one thoroughly realizes that all marks of movement and non-movement are unapprehensible. Such forbearance is able to fulfill forbearance and the remaining five perfections. Cultivating vigor through non-apprehension, one thoroughly realizes that all bodily and mental diligence and indolence are unapprehensible. Such vigor is able to fulfill vigor and the remaining five perfections. Cultivating meditative absorption through non-apprehension, one thoroughly realizes that all savoring and non-savoring are unapprehensible. Such meditative absorption is able to fulfill meditative absorption and the remaining five perfections. Cultivating wisdom through non-apprehension, one thoroughly realizes that all phenomena, whether in nature or in characteristics, are unapprehensible. Such wisdom is able to fulfill wisdom and the remaining five perfections." Furthermore, the Mahāyānasaṃgraha states: "Within the preparatory application of cultivating every perfection, all the perfections mutually assist and accomplish each other. That is, when cultivating giving, there is restraint, endurance, exertion, concentration, and good understanding of the mutual connection between karmic actions and fruits; thus within giving, the others are operating. When cultivating precepts, one is far removed from stinginess, resentment, indolence, distraction, and wrong views; thus within precepts, the others are operating. Cultivation of the remainder is also explained in this way. As a verse states: / 'When giving, there is non-attachment and no transgression of precepts, / No jealousy and no resentment, arousing a mind of loving-kindness; / To all who come asking, one straightaway gives, / Without fatigue, without distraction, and without divergent views.'"
