四、依大衍法師等一時諸德，立四宗教，以通收一代聖教：一、因緣宗，謂小乘薩婆多等部。二、假名宗，謂成實、經部等。三、不真宗，謂諸部《般若》，說即空理，明一切法不真實等。四、真實宗，《涅槃》、《華嚴》等，明佛性、法界、真理等。

4. According to Master Dayan [Tanyan] and other contemporary worthies, they established four tenets of teachings to comprehensively encompass the sacred teachings of an entire lifetime: First, the tenet of causes and conditions, meaning Hīnayāna schools such as the Sarvāstivāda. Second, the tenet of nominal designation, meaning the Tattvasiddhi, the Sautrāntika, and so forth. Third, the tenet of the non-true, meaning the various Prajñā[-pāramitā sūtras], which speak of the principle of identity with emptiness and clarify that all dharmas are not real, and so forth. Fourth, the tenet of the real, [meaning] the Nirvāṇa, Avataṃsaka, and so forth, which clarify the buddha-nature, the dharma-realm, the true principle, and so forth.
