問：「前終教中不退際上，亦得如是八相等用，與此何別？」答：「彼於此位示成佛時，於後諸位皆不自在，以未得故，但是當位暫起化故。此即不爾，於初位中起此用時，於後諸位並同時起，皆以得故、是實行故、該六位故。」

Question: 'In the preceding final teaching, upon the boundary of non-retrogression, such functions as the eight aspects are also attained; how does that differ from this?' Answer: 'When it manifests the attainment of buddhahood in that stage, it lacks mastery regarding all subsequent stages, because it has not yet attained them; it is merely a temporary manifestation of transformation arising in that present stage. Here it is not so: when this function arises in the initial stage, it arises simultaneously throughout all subsequent stages, because all have been attained, because it is real practice, and because it encompasses the six stages.'
