Eighth is the approach of different accomplishments across the separated phenomena of the ten times. The above diverse meanings pervade the ten times, being distinctly different yet simultaneously and completely manifest, because time and phenomena are inseparable. Speaking of the 'ten times': each of the three times of past, future, and present has a past, future, and present, which makes nine times. However, these nine times mutually identify and interpenetrate, thereby forming one comprehensive phrase; the comprehensive and the particular combine to make ten times. These ten times are completely distinct yet simultaneously manifest, and because they constitute dependent origination, they achieve mutual identity and interpenetration. Therefore, this sūtra says: 'Either entering a short kalpa with a long kalpa, or entering a long kalpa with a short kalpa; either taking hundreds of thousands of great kalpas as one thought-moment, or one thought-moment being hundreds of thousands of great kalpas; either entering a future kalpa with a past kalpa, or entering a past kalpa with a future kalpa.' Such sovereignty, unobstructed by times and kalpas, mutually identical and mutually interpenetrating, is seamlessly fused and accomplished. Moreover, this sūtra says: 'Within a single dust mote, all buddha lands of the three times are universally manifested.' It also says: 'Within a single dust mote, all sentient beings of the three times are universally manifested.' It also says: 'Within a single dust mote, all buddha activities of the three times are universally manifested.' It also says: 'Within a single dust mote, the turning of the wheel of Dharma by all buddhas of the three times is established.' Such statements are immeasurable, as expounded at length in the sūtra. This universally gathers all the above approaches of meaning, all of which manifest with sovereignty within the ten times. One should reflect on this.
